BAW Plastics, Inc.

Dedicated to Growth and Excellence

At BAW Plastics Inc it is our mission to satisfy our customers and make sure that every relationship we build is a win/win. We are focused on our quality products and services – keeping them available on time and at a competitive price – and are dedicated to achieving an optimal return on our investments, equity, and people. While BAW is a business, we have created an environment dedicated to growth and excellence. We value the integrity and uniqueness of each individual – and our suppliers – as part of the BAW Plastics Inc team, and together we enjoy the journey.

Our Story

In 1944, BAW Company began marketing its first products fabricated from acetate from Baldwin, Pennsylvania before moving to Verona. On October 1, 1981, Jim Slovonic purchased the company, and five years later moved the operation to Pleasant Hills. In 1988, BAW Plastics Inc was incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania, and three years later was relocated to the current Century Drive location in Jefferson Hills.

A lot has happened since Jim took over. The company has grown from one employee to the 100 team members we have today. The facility has changed too, evolving from BAW Company’s original home basement operation to our current 160,000 sq. ft. state-of-the art facility.

One thing that hasn’t changed though is our focus on family. For forty-one years and counting BAW has first and foremost been a family operation. Jim serves as BAW’s Vice President, his wife, Mary Slovonic, currently serves as the corporate secretary, and their children – four daughters and one son – have all worked in the business in numerous capacities. Currently, their oldest daughter, Jane B. LaPorte, serves as the BAW Plastics Inc President.

Today, we remain dedicated to growth and excellence, to our team, and to our clients. As part of that, we continue to produce top-of-the-line original and aftermarket components, and work tirelessly to improve and develop new talent, equipment, design, and manufacturing capabilities to stay competitive and impactful in a constantly changing retail marketplace, without losing sight of our core values. Staying true to our mission – now and in the future – we never forget that since the beginning, BAW Plastics Inc has been guided by a man with a dream, and he continues to make that dream come true for all of us.
