This week, BAW Plastics celebrates 44 years in business — a milestone that gives us the perfect moment to reflect on how far we’ve come. What began in 1981 as a small, home basement operation in Western Pennsylvania has grown into a women-owned, WBENC-certified manufacturer known for custom retail displays, store fixtures, and creative solutions trusted by national brands.
Humble Beginnings
When you look back at some of our earliest projects — Kaufmann’s gift card holders, Coca-Cola open/closed signs, kids’ meal displays, and holiday promotions — you see more than just acrylic and signage. You see the foundation of a company built on problem-solving, craftsmanship, and partnership. Fun fact: our customer service department once handled nearly 200 calls a day on the switchboard back in the 90s!
Expanding Horizons
As our skills and capabilities grew, so did our footprint. What started with single displays for local shops evolved into large-scale retail rollouts for national chains. Along the way, we’ve invested in new machines and technology, strengthened our production processes, and continued to push the boundaries of what’s possible in plastics manufacturing and custom display fabrication.
From Malls to Modern Retail
Back when BAW first started producing displays, shopping malls and department stores were the heart of American retail. Our early projects—like Kaufmann’s gift card holders and in-store signage—were designed for that environment.
But as malls closed and retail shifted, so did we. Instead of fading with the old model, BAW evolved. Today, our point-of-purchase displays (POP) and store fixtures can be found in national chains, specialty stores, and branded retail experiences that put the customer first. Retail has transformed into something more curated, flexible, and engaging — and we’re proud to be part of that evolution, helping brands connect with shoppers in meaningful ways.
A Team Effort
None of this growth would have been possible without the people who make BAW what it is today. From our production floor to our front office, every project is powered by collaboration, problem-solving, and a dedication to quality.
Looking Ahead
44 years later, BAW Plastics is proud to partner with businesses across the country, creating custom retail displays and store fixtures that make an impact on the retail floor. While we’ve grown beyond our local beginnings, our commitment to innovation, creativity, and customer service has remained the same.
Here’s to continuing our story of innovation, teamwork, and trusted partnerships — and to helping retailers nationwide bring their products to life.
