About Us

BAW Plastics Inc. has a proud history rooted in innovation, craftsmanship, and family values. The company’s journey began in 1944, when BAW Company first marketed products fabricated from acetate in Baldwin, Pennsylvania.  The company was moved shortly after to Verona, PA and on October 1, 1981, Jim Slovonic purchased BAW. Five years later Jim moved the operations to Pleasant Hills. In 1988, BAW Plastics Inc. was officially incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and, in 1991, relocated to its current home on Century Drive in Jefferson Hills.

Since Jim took the helm, BAW Plastics has experienced remarkable growth. What started as a one-person operation has expanded into a team of nearly 100 dedicated employees. Along the way, the facility has evolved from a basement operation into a 160,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing campus—reflecting the company’s continued investment in people, technology, and capability.

While much has changed over the decades, one thing has remained constant: BAW’s commitment to family. Jim continues to serve as Vice President, and his wife, Mary Slovonic, previously held the roles of Corporate Secretary and Controller. All five of their children have worked within the business in various capacities. Today, their eldest daughter, Jane LaPorte, serves as President of BAW Plastics Inc., while their second-youngest daughter, Emily Lamphere, leads the company’s marketing efforts. Carrying the legacy into the next generation, Jim & Mary’s grandchildren have also contributed in the packing department and in enhancing our social media platforms.

Today, BAW Plastics remains dedicated to growth and excellence.  We cherish our team, our clients, and our partners. We continue to manufacture high-quality original and aftermarket components while investing in new talent, advanced equipment, innovative design, and evolving manufacturing capabilities. As the retail landscape changes, our commitment to quality, integrity, and relationships remains unwavering.
